Playing Royale Roulette
Royale Roulette is a variation of the classic European game of Roulette. Basically this means that the game relies on the single zero wheel, and all of the betting opportunities of a traditional game of Roulette, but has the added bonus of a “progressive jackpot”.
Usually a game of Roulette has the players making the “minimum” wager for the table. This could be in a number of ways according to the layout table, or printed panel on the gaming surface. A player must try to guess where the ball in the Roulette wheel will land after it is spun. They do this by making a bet on their guess. The panel allows both “inside” and “outside” bets.
Inside bets are very specific wagers on selected numbers, while outside bets are more general wagers, such as color, odd or even, or large sets of numbers. Inside bets, because they are more difficult to win, payout a much larger award to the player. Most of the outside bets are “even” meaning they pay a one to one ratio on the wager, but some are set at a two to one payout because of their greater risk.
Inside bets include:
- Straight bets – a single number bet which pays thirty five to one.
- Split bets – chip straddling two numbers that pays seventeen to one.
- Street bets – chip laid at end of one row on the panel which pays eleven to one.
- Corner bets – chip laid on intersection of four numbers that pays eight to one.
- Line bets – a six number bet with a chip placed on line between two “streets” which pays five to one.
Outside bets include:
- Red/Black bets – a bet on a specific color for a spin that pays one to one.
- Odd/Even bets – a bet on an odd or even number on a spin which pays one to one.
- High/Low bets – chip on the “1-18” or the “19-36” space and the correct number being spun from the group that pay one to one.
- Dozen bets – chip on the “1-12”, the “13-24”, or the “25-36” space and the correct number being spun from the groups which pay two to one.
- Column bets – chip placed in the space at the bottom of one of the three columns on the layout table, and one of the correct numbers being spun that pay two to one.
- Zero bets – even though this is an “outside” bet, either one of the zeroes pays a thirty five to one award.
Where Royale Roulette differs from the standard European game, is that it offers a progressive jackpot in addition to the basic bets. A player who wants a chance to win this additional cash must place a “side bet” into the pot. This bet matches the bet the player has placed on the spin. If a player makes the same bet five times in a row and wins, they get the entire jackpot. This means that weeks or months of wagers could be waiting for a single, lucky player. A Royale Roulette player can win the progressive jackpot on either kind of bid, outside or inside, but the same number must occur five times in a row in order to claim the prize.
